Lok Satta Welcomes Suspension of Building Regularization Orders

The Lok Satta Party today welcomed the Government decision to suspend the building regularization orders, which had sought to penalize ordinary people for crimes committed by officials and builders.

The Lok Satta Party had launched an agitation against the orders both in the districts and in Hyderabad city.

Lok Satta Party President Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan (Dr. JP) reiterated in a statement that penalties for regularization of apartments should be collected from officials and builders who were guilty of dereliction of their duties and not owners. Only in respect of independent houses, owners who deviated from approved plans should be made to pay the penalty.

Dr. JP also urged the Government to rationalize the proposed penalties considering factors like the location of buildings, and the year and cost of their construction.

  1. Well penalizing the people (owners) should also be required as this will create a greater awareness/fear within the people before buying the apartment, though i strongly agree builder and officials should be punished first.

  2. I would think First person should be punished is the government official who gave the permission. Second person should be the builder (If it is an apartment complex) otherwise first person should be Govt. Official and second person is the owner of the house. Yes, because they are responsible for their mistakes. But, if we cut off the problem at the root level itself (Govt. official) it will solve most of the problems

  3. Building Regularization is required thing in andhrapradesh/India.cos lots of land is occupied by unauthorized persons,if i say about the penality ,we have victims and owners,officers..those three guys effected by neglegency(victims who were purchased),ilelgal activity(owners),corruption(officers).i feel these three guys are eligible for punishment but in different methods.
The victims means the people who purchased flats/homes needs to pay little amount of penalty, that makes everyone alert for the next time, also that creates a questioning capability in the people for the information.otherwise they will be lazy all the time.owners they must be punished ,they did some illegal activity.officers must be fired!!!.thats the only solution, that may create some new employment.
