One India – One People

The recent crude and opportunistic attempts by some politicians to whip up regional chauvinism call for responsible citizens across India to come to the rescue of the idea of

One India - One People

It is the constitutional right of all law-abiding Indian citizens to have education, carry on business, seek employment, and have residence in any part of the country. India survives as a single nation of free people or it does not survive at all.

The recent attempts by some to whip up narrow parochialism and resorting to violence is contrary to the spirit of national unity, irrelevant and injurious to the culture necessary for economic growth and national prosperity. The strength of our cities lies in their multicultural cosmopolitanism.

With this in view, Lok Satta Party is organizing a forum to discuss the need to foster the spirit of tolerance and peaceful co-existence. Lok Satta Party invites representatives of all communities to attend the forum, express their views in this regard, and strengthen the spirit of fraternity among all Indians.

  1. Dear Dr. Jayaprakash garu,
I am impressed and motivated by your views on our great and ancient but corrupted SOCIETY. My two cents on various frustrations I have
    1) Youth: Majority of us are terribly misguided and see a severe lack of role models. Result, our high energy levels are dissipated on social evils like eve-teasing which later transcends to higher degree crimes on women, unnecessary violence in trivial school issues and lack of motivated approach towards any major non existent goal. I am a student doing Masters in US, and I see that many of us work here in petty jobs like cafeteria and we promote corruption here by giving food away and stealing stuff. So its the youth's attitude to rationalize the sin committed and more alarmingly the lack of belief in ethics that is hurting us. We need a leader, to prove that sticking to principles and truth yields a life we all dream of. unfortunately most of our youth leaders are people who get easily provoked or provoke other students to indulge in violence.
How can I convince myself to be optimistic given this scenario?

    2) Cultural gap amongst Indian students speaking different regional languages. We basically hate each other and this is a global problem that is existing at various levels. The whole world needs to tolerate different kinds of people. more so in case of our good old country because of the sheer variety of people we have as our compatriots.
I strongly feel the need for a message of love, that unites more number of people and give hope to us to stand and fight united against the multitude of injustices we have in our society.

A leader must be able to unite people for the right cause and guide the group to achieve what the group believes is best for it.
Being a staunch follower of Gandhiji's principles of truth and non violence, and conscious self purification, I would like to "be the change I want to see" I need a platform for people who think and act like me to form a group that spreads a message through our great society.
I wish for success of all your ideologies so long as they are thought of with a pure heart.
